I woke up this morning to being unable to play the latest videos and music from my Windows Home Server. One of the data storage drives was reported missing!
One of the 1TB hard drives had died.
Fortunately I have data duplication running on all my shares so the majority of my data is safe but anything put on the server today was gone. Only four files so not actually that bad.
I now have to spend the next several hours removing the broken hard drive (98% of that time is taken up waiting on WHS’ removal process). Then replace it with the only spare disk I have, a 750GB. At least adding it doesn’t take as long as removing it.
